This morning was flooded with these wishes all around. Every page of the newspaper had lovely delicious images of sweets with a tagline 'तिळगुळ घ्या गोड बोला' . Vibrant colours of soaring kites saying 'Lets fly together this Sankranti '
As I checked my phone, everyone be it family or friend, known or unknown wanted to wish each other for Makar Sankrant. They all had the same tagline, ' तिळगुळ घ्या गोड बोला '
This vibrant festival marks the start of a new year. It is this harvest festival which has many names across our country and yet suggests the same bond and feeling for each one of us.
Makar Sankranti in Maharashtra, Uttarayan in Gujarat, Lohri in Punjab, Pongal in South India, Bihu in Assam.
All of them simply mean let's work together, harvest together and celebrate together.
My friend once said, ' Everything, whether living or non- living around us helps us evolve. Look at it from a different perspective.'
This Uttarayan let the Ayan means the journey be on the trail of connect - communicate - evolve
Connect
We all have inherited unique genes. We all are special and think differently. Let us bridge the gap of differences amongst us. Let us agree that we disagree on some points and yet connect. As educators, can we connect and share the best experiences we have had be it classroom or beyond it.
Communicate
A powerful tool to be used wisely. Instead of typing messages ' तिळगुळ घ्या गोडगोड बोला...(जिथे बोलणे नाही, सांगणे होते) Can we just pick up the phone or catch up to talk. Wouldn't that be more sweeter than a typed message which is one way communication. May the staffroom gossips transform as effective assertive communication channels.
Engage
An article in Times of India today said, 'Flying a kite, cooking some delicacies are meditative in nature. They engage your mind in a creative way. ' Let us explore more such ways to engage beyond the role of simply being an educator.
As educators, let this CCE transform from continuous comprehensive evaluation to connect, communicate and evolve together for us to reap rewards for society.

Isn't it fascinating how different cultures with geographical isolation have developed the same ideologies?
How people with very different views on the world, in a different settings come alive truly and celebrate?
A wonderful classroom is one where everybody can speak to their minds, be open and express what they truly feel
In the true sense, that is what being human is
खूप छान लेख! Loved the way you have captured the spirit of Sankranti beautifully. "Connect - Communicate - Evolve."
ReplyDeleteAs educators, we truly embody this mantra—connecting real-life with textbooks, communicating effectively with our students, and evolving with the next generation students using modern teaching methods while honoring our traditional roots.
Wonderfully expressed Prajakta! Keep writing and inspiring!
Today, with most of our transactions needing little to no human interaction, it is beautiful to be able to meaningfully connect with those around us! Lovely thought about Makar Sankrant. :)
ReplyDeleteEnriching thoughts ...beautiful write up as usual
